The Dripping Light

by Deepa Gulrukh Patel

the dripping light with no skin

turns into inlets of

hard fought

or is it won

which course through

the sinews of my womanhood

in the womb a trickle of peace

in the breasts fountains of compassion

in the eyes pools of unseen beauty

each carrying the promise of summer

here the blossom of desire

transforms into the fruit of love

ripening to the point of surrender

caring not

whether i become

food for the lover

drop to the ground to rot
